Bumbung Raja Tropical Rainforest or Hutan Lipur Bumbung Raja is located in Kampung Pasir Raja, Hulu Dungun in the District of Dungun. Travel distance is approximately 40km from Al-Muktafi Billah Shah town and 110km from Kuala Terengganu Town.
Bumbung Raja is actually a massive stone located near the Dungun River in this village.
According to history, it is called Bumbung Raja because this is once a royal lodge for Inderapura (or Pahang) king's children during the 17th century after their hunting activities for deer and mousedeer. Apart from being one of the historical sites, today Hutan Lipur Bumbung Raja is one of the most popular tourist sites in Dungun. Hutan Lipur Bumbung Raja is a Dipterocarp Forest and is near to the village area. The uniqueness of Hutan Lipur Bumbung Raja is its wide river that is ideal for rafting and kayaking. Various facilities are available including a pathway across the forest trails, concrete stairs and resting huts. Visitors also can do countless activities such as recreation, bathing, diving, picnicking, camping, fishing and crossing the forest trail whilst sightseeing and viewing wildlife via the jungle trails.
