Prof. Dr. Ir. Retna Apsari, M.Si, IPM

Prof. Dr. Ir. Retna Apsari, M.Si, IPM serves as the Head of the Biomedical Engineering Study Program at Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia. A distinguished physicist and keynote speaker, Prof. Retna possesses extensive expertise in optical fiber sensors, laser applications, biophotonics, optical image processing, material photonics and optical devices.

With over three decades of experience in research, teaching, and leadership,  Prof. Retna has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious “Satya Lencana Karya Satya” award for her dedicated service and the “Best Community Engagement Project” award in 2023.

An accomplished scholar holding a PhD in Physics, Prof. Retna is actively involved in global academic initiatives, contributing as a speaker and reviewer in international conferences and research forums. Her passion for advancing science and education is evident in her impactful work on curriculum development, mentorship and innovative research.
